VW update & BugOut 61
I went out to Manassas today for the 61st Bugout. It's billed as the largest VW show on the east coast. It was fun to go and see the well loved, and the well restored air cooled VW's.
I'm continuing to tear down my '67 Beetle - and after the show I'm wondering how many VW's have been lost by guys like me taking on a restoration job and failing. I'm still very excited by the prospect - but the number of broken bolts so far is making me wonder what I've gotten myself into.
The shear volume of resources out there for VW restoration in pretty incredible. I've picked up a few catalogs at the show and it is reassuring to find that most of the problems I've identified have an available replacement as a solution.
